| The Literacy Training Network (LTN) in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Education, improves the quality of learning opportunities offered to adults in all the state's Adult Basic Education programs. It provides professional development to Adult Basic Educators through statewide, regional and local staff development opportunities. Orientation to Adult Basic Education in Minnesota Orientation to Adult Basic Education (ABE) in Minnesota is an informational training covering the structure, theory of adult learning, instructional practices and strategies and resources for teachers of adults in Minnesota. The training can be provided in a three hour group setting or on-line. Summer Institute Conference
Each year the Literacy Training Network collaborates with other supplemental ABE services to provide a hands-on, practical workshop for adult educators from across the state. This conference provides opportunities to learn and practice new techniques, to share ideas with other professionals, to discover new resources and to gain new insights into the art of adult learning and teaching.
Management Seminars ABE administrators and lead teachers participate in fall and spring training in administrative and budgeting skills, program development and business-education partnerships.
Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) Training on the CASAS assessments can be obtained by contacting Anne Marie Leland at the Minnesota Department of Education.
Family Literacy An annual conference for Family Literacy practitioners is conducted. Training, resources, technical assistance and services are provided. For further information about this training opportunity, contact Cherie Eichinger at the Minnesota Department of Education.
English as a Second Language Diverse training opportunities are provided to ESL teachers across the state. Local and national experts conduct training that responds to needs in the field.
GED Information and training is provided to teacherss and GED examiners which provides current information relevant to the GED testing program. Further information regarding GED is available from Jim Colwell or the MN Dept. of Ed.
