Regional Professional

Development Coordinator

 

Role

The position of Regional Professional Development Coordinator is created to oversee the planning process of professional development (PD) events for a designated area (or for a designated audience) in the state. The regional coordinators will emphasize staff development activities which support MDE priority content areas and promote best practices to improve student and system performance. They will report to the Professional Development Coordinator at MDE and communicate information about regional training activities to the manager at LTN.

 

Audience/Influence

·        Local program representatives on PD committee  (direct)

·        ABE managers, teachers, paraprofessionals, volunteers (indirect)

 

Responsibilities

1.      Participate in MDE meeting(s) for orientation and training of regional PD coordinators

 

2.      Set up selection/invitation process for committee of representatives from local programs in region

 

3.  Schedule planning meeting(s) and invite program representatives

 

4.  Facilitate program representative group to plan customized events to meet local needs; develop needs assessment and evaluation process; plan program and logistics

 

5. Confer with MDE Professional Development Coordinator on training content and delivery plans

 

6. Oversee regional training events and other training opportunities planned through this process

 

7. Coordinate training event logistics with LTN staff

 

8. Report on progress to MDE PD Coordinator

 

9. Provide brief final summary and evaluation of regional PD activities to MDE

 

Skills and Background Preferred

 

Ø      Experience teaching or administering in ABE programs

Ø      Experience in planning and delivering ABE/ESL training to teachers

Ø      Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ø      Experience facilitating large and small meetings

Ø      Knowledge of needs assessment processes

Ø      Ability to manage multiple details, timelines and activities
